Lifestar-that must be the $500 group program you were referring to. I've been connected now to a LifeStar therapist and have yet to go to any "group" and am wondering if I should proactively start attending a church ARP one right now. But, like we've already discovered--there's no Women's Only groups up here, so I don't know if that is the best idea.
So if I heard you correctly, you go to two different LDS groups, as well as an independent therapist (who specializes in sex addiction?), but you don't follow any other workbook program other than the 12 step program?
No. The therapist I have now is not LDS and doesn't advise me at all regarding my addiction. I see her more for intimacy issues as well as interpersonal relationship issues. I struggle with relationships with men - just everyday relationships so I use her to get clarity on that. I've also leaned on her quite a bit with the things that have recently gone on with my marriage and my husbands struggles.
There are two women's ARP (PASG - pornography addiction support group) groups in my town... I don't attend both of them each week but I bounce back and forth. I also attend a PASG family support meeting sometimes and last night I attended a general ARP meeting. Next week I'll be attending a family support ARP meeting. At my stage of recovery 'meetings are meetings' and I find strength from all of them.
I think a general ARP meeting is worth checking out for you. Addictions aren't specifically mentioned in meetings so there wouldn't be any risk of having to expose your addiction.
Other than that - no other workbook or program. The LDS 12-Step book taught me how to truly use and rely on the Atonement and that has proved to be enough. Of course, that is only the foundation of my recovery. There is much more to recovery than that... changing habits, learning recovery tooks etc... but Christ and the Atonement is central.
I KNEW someone was going mention the steering wheel haha! My kids got it for me! But I DO love it:-) I grew up in the 80's, what can I say! I need to get some matching fuzzy dice haha
Great start, Sidreis! I was hanging on every word, listening very carefully! I promise you, it will get the attention of the class! Awesome stuff. The Student Research Journal
Thank you a lot for the introduction! This information is actual for me. And can you write a post about how to write a great essay? Becuse it seems to me very difficult and most often I ask writers from writing service research paper writer to write a work. At the moment, this is the only proven way for me.

ReplyDeleteThanks.. I don't think she's presenting it to the actual class.. but just using it as a primary source for her research paper. :-)
DeleteI am inspired daily by your ability and willingness to talk so openly about such hard things. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so beautiful! Inside and out! And I love you. -Stacey
ReplyDeleteAnd the idea of people walking past you in the parking lot, seeing you sitting there talking to yourself = hilarity. :D -Stacey
ReplyDeleteLOL you're funny... no one walked by! And if they had - I would have paused in and whispered something about it to the camera haha!
